One dead, Boyle County deputy injured in crash on US-127 in Danville
BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – One person is dead and a Boyle County deputy was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday night in Danville.
According to the Kentucky State Police, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 127 and West Shelby Street.
Investigators say Deputy Zach King was attempting to make a left turn onto West Shelby Street from U.S. 127 northbound when his SUV was hit by a southbound vehicle.
Troopers say the southbound driver, identified as 27-year-old Michael Mingey, allegedly missed a traffic signal before colliding with the deputy’s vehicle.
Mingey was taken to a hospital, where authorities say he later died from his injuries.
Deputy King was also taken to a hospital. State police say his injuries were not life-threatening.
The crash remains under investigation.
