Golden Alert canceled for missing 68-year-old man in Laurel County

UPDATE 4:35 P.M.: Billie R. Knuckles was found safe Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, at 4:30 P.M. ET according to the Laurel C0unty Sherrif’s Office.

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office has issued a Golden Alert for a missing 68-year-old man.

Sheriff John Root says Billie R. Knuckles was reported missing Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026. His last known location was off Tackett Spur Road, about six miles south of London, around 9 a.m.

According to the sheriff’s office, Knuckles is described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 140 pounds, with brown eyes, gray collar-length hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a gray T-shirt, gray jogging pants and black tennis shoes.

Deputies say he may be driving a 2005 gold Chevrolet pickup truck with Kentucky license plate 912ZGC.

Officials say Knuckles requires medication for mental and physical disabilities.
