Lexington woman celebrates her 100th birthday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Lexington woman is celebrating a major milestone — turning 100 years old — and doing it in a place she visits often.

According to a Facebook post from Mayor Linda Gorton, Jean recently marked her centennial birthday surrounded by a group of supporters at the Charles Young Center on East Third Street.

The mayor said Jean regularly works out at the center, making it a fitting place to celebrate such a special occasion. Photos shared online show the group gathering to honor her milestone birthday.

City leaders say the celebration highlights both longevity and staying active in the community, something Jean continues to do even at 100 years old.
