One dead after Interstate 75 crash in Rockcastle County

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – One person is dead following a crash on Interstate 75 in Rockcastle County, according to police.

Authorities say the accident happened near the 63-mile marker just north of Mount Vernon.

A preliminary investigation indicates the driver, identified as Rex Loveless, was traveling southbound on I-75 when he pulled onto the right shoulder of the roadway and began complaining of pain.

Officials say the passenger, Melinda Loveless, told officers the vehicle then rolled off the shoulder and struck a rock wall.

Emergency crews transported Rex Loveless to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His passenger was not hurt.

The crash remains under investigation.
