Multiple collisions with injuries on I-75 in Corbin; highway reopens

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Police say multiple people were hurt after a series of crashes along Interstate 75 in Corbin during snowy conditions late Sunday night.

According to officers, an 11-vehicle crash — including two semi-trucks — happened on I-75 northbound near mile marker 27. Several people were taken to the hospital following the collision, though officials have not released details about the extent of their injuries.

Police say a second crash happened nearby around the same time, followed by a third collision near mile marker 24 involving four vehicles.

Parts of the interstate were shut down for several hours as crews worked to clear the scene and treat the roadway. Officials say state highway crews responded with salt trucks to address slick conditions caused by the snow.

All lanes have since reopened, but officers are reminding drivers to slow down and use caution when traveling during winter weather.
