Community gathers to remember Russell County softball player Brylie Northcutt

RUSSELL COUNTY, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Family members, friends and classmates are saying their final goodbyes today to a Russell County High School student-athlete who died suddenly earlier this week.

Visitation for 15-year-old Brylie Northcutt is scheduled for 11 a.m. this morning at Bernard Funeral Home. Her funeral service will follow at 2 p.m.

The Russell County School District says classes will be dismissed at noon so students and staff can attend the services.

According to her obituary, Northcutt was a member of the Lady Lakers softball team.

The county coroner says she died from a blood clot in her lungs after collapsing during softball tryouts on Monday.

School officials and community members have shared messages of support and remembrance for Northcutt and her family as they grieve the loss.
