Arrest made in death of 17-year-old shooting victim

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Lexington police say an arrest has been made in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old earlier this month.

According to a release from the Lexington Police Department, officers were first called around 4:05 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 5, to the 1500 block of Versailles Road for a reported shooting.

Police say officers found a male victim in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers and emergency medical crews attempted life-saving measures, but the victim died at the scene.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 17-year-old Jonathan Hunt.

In an update released Thursday, police say 18-year-old Amontae Flynn has been arrested and charged with murder and first-degree robbery in connection with Hunt’s death. According to police, Flynn is currently being held at the Fayette County Detention Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.
