Corbin man arrested after woman says methamphetamine was placed in her coffee, Knox County deputies say

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A Corbin man is facing charges after a Knox County woman told deputies she was assaulted and allegedly drugged without her knowledge, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Department.

In a press release, deputies say the investigation began Monday, Feb. 16, when Deputy David Dunn took a report from a woman who said she had been assaulted.

According to the sheriff’s department, the victim told deputies that on Dec. 25, 2025, she woke up and was watching her child open Christmas gifts while drinking coffee when her boyfriend, identified as 38-year-old Shawn Asher of Corbin, allegedly told her she was “about to find out what he had done.” Investigators say the woman reported that Asher admitted to putting methamphetamine in her coffee and planting needles in her vehicle.

The victim told deputies she later went to the hospital on Dec. 26 for lab work after learning about the alleged incident, and the sheriff’s department says the results came back positive for methamphetamine.

According to the release, the woman also reported that Asher made threats to harm her and that she feared him because of past violent behavior.

Deputies say Shawn Asher was arrested and lodged in the Knox County Detention Center, charged with second-degree assault.

The investigation remains ongoing.
