Funeral arrangements announced for Russell County High School student Brylie Northcutt

RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Funeral arrangements have been announced for a Russell County High School student who died after collapsing during softball tryouts earlier this week.

According to her obituary, visitation for 15-year-old Brylie Northcutt will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Bernard Funeral Home, followed by funeral services at 2 p.m.

Russell County Schools says classes will be dismissed early Friday at noon to allow students and staff the opportunity to attend and support one another during the difficult time.

As previously reported, the Russell County Coroner said Northcutt collapsed during softball tryouts and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Officials believe her death was caused by a pulmonary embolism — a blood clot in the lungs — though additional findings are still pending.

According to her obituary, Northcutt was a member of the Lady Lakers softball team. The school district and community have continued to share messages of support for her family, friends, and teammates.
