KY Transportation Cabinet awards civil engineering scholarships
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced Friday that it has awarded full scholarships to three students.
The cabinet says Ethan Searcy, a 2019 graduate of Owen County High School, Nathan Maynard, a 2019 graduate of Harrison County High School, and Benjamin Spratt, a 2019 graduate of Grant County High School, have been selected to receive a full scholarship to pursue a civil engineering degree.
Searcy plans to attend Bluegrass Community and Technical College in Lexington.
Maynard will attend the University of Kentucky.
Spratt is going to Western Kentucky University.
Recipients are chosen based on performance in high school, ACT scores, aptitude in math and science, and an interest in engineering as a career, according to the cabinet.
Students who receive the scholarship are offered the opportunity to work for the cabinet during summer months, as well as secure full-time employment upon graduation. Students agree to work one year for KYTC for each year of scholarship assistance.
