Man killed in early morning shooting in Harrodsburg, police say

HARRODSBURG, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A man is dead following an early morning shooting in Harrodsburg, according to the Harrodsburg Police Department.

Officers were sent around 5:15 a.m. Friday to a reported shooting at a home. When they arrived, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police say life-saving measures were attempted, but the man died at the scene, according to the Mercer County Coroner’s Office. The coroner’s office confirmed to ABC 36 News Now that the incident began as an apparent home invasion.

Authorities are withholding the victim’s identity until next of kin can be notified.

Investigators say the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The case remains active, and police say more details will be released as they become available.
