Salt truck slides into ravine, shuts down Greenwich Pike near Harp Innis Road
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A city salt truck ended up in a ravine along Greenwich Pike near Harp Innis Road, forcing the roadway to shut down for several hours as crews worked to pull the truck back onto the road.
Officials say the truck went off the roadway earlier this morning and landed in a steep area beside the pavement. Greenwich Pike has remained closed while heavy equipment was brought in to safely remove the vehicle.
So far, there are no reports of any injuries connected to the crash.
Crews are still working to figure out what caused the salt truck to leave the road.
Drivers are being asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes until the roadway fully reopens.
