Kentucky upsets No. 15 Arkansas in Fayetteville behind Oweh’s 24 points

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Kentucky Wildcats defeated the 15th-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville, 85-77. The win marked Kentucky’s sixth victory in its last seven games.

Kentucky got off to a quick start, leading 14-5 at the first media timeout. Arkansas chipped away at the deficit for the remainder of the half, but Kentucky still held a 42-35 lead at the break.

Arkansas star Darius Acuff Jr. got going in the second half. After scoring just five points in the first half, Acuff Jr. exploded for 17 points after halftime and sparked a massive 22-12 run to open the second half, giving Arkansas a 57-53 lead at the 12:19 mark.

Kentucky responded with several key buckets and went on its own 27-13 run over the next 10 minutes to take an 80-70 lead, which proved to be enough to secure the win.

Otega Oweh scored a game-high 24 points to bolster his SEC Player of the Year chances. Colin Chandler (13 points), Malachi Moreno (11), and Denzel Aberdeen (10) joined Oweh in double figures.

Trent Noah added nine points and grabbed seven key rebounds in the victory.

With the win, Kentucky improves to 15–7 overall (6–3 SEC), while Arkansas falls to 16–6 (6–3 SEC).

Kentucky will now return home to face the Oklahoma Sooners (11–11, 1–8 SEC). Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. on ESPN2.
