Thousands still without power across Kentucky as crews work around the clock after winter storm
KENTUCKY (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Utility crews across the commonwealth are continuing around-the-clock efforts to restore power after this weekend’s winter storm knocked down power lines and triggered widespread outages.
State officials say more than 28,000 homes and businesses are still without electricity, primarily in southern and southeastern Kentucky. That number is down significantly from the more than 73,000 outages reported on Sunday, showing steady progress as crews push through difficult conditions.
LG&E and Kentucky Utilities say their teams have been working overnight and in harsh weather to get customers back online. According to LG&E, power has already been restored to more than 24,000 customers since Saturday morning.
Utility companies continue urging residents to stay clear of downed power lines and to report outages as restoration efforts continue.
