UPDATE: Two killed in Franklin County crash identified

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Two individuals killed in a crash Monday morning have been identified.

According to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office, 64-year-old Allen Robey of Bedford, Indiana was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second victim has been identified as 53-year-old Wilma Chambers of Berea. Chambers was pronounced dead at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center.

The coroner’s report shows both victims appeared to have died from injuries sustained from the crash.

An autopsy was performed Tuesday morning. Final results will be available in 12 to 14 weeks.

The cause of the crash, and the cause and manner of death are still be investigated.

State Police say two dogs who were in Robey’s truck survived the crash but ran off.

Tuesday, volunteers were out searching for the dogs in the wooded area near the accident.

Both were found and taken to the Franklin County Humane Society.

The humane society says one dog has a minor scrape on it’s leg, but both are in good condition.

The owner’s family will be contacted.

UPDATE: 2/18/2019 4:25 p.m.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ)- Trooper, Bernie Napier says there was a truck and a car sitting still on the bridge for an unknown reason.

After that, a commercial semi hit the two vehicles.

The drivers of the truck and the small white car were killed.

The driver in the semi was taken to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Napier says two dogs from the truck survived.

All of the lanes on I-64 are open.

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WTVQ) – Kentucky State Police is working an accident that has left two people dead in Franklin County.

The accident happened just after 9:30 a.m. on the westbound side of Interstate 64 near mile marker 51.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the accident involves several vehicles.

All lanes of I-64 westbound are shut down.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the lanes are expected to be closed for several hours.

All traffic is being taken off I-64 westbound at exit 53.

The detour is U.S. 127 to U.S. 60 to KY 151 and back on I-64 at Graefenburg.

The eastbound side of I-64 is running normally.
