University of Kentucky to close campus Monday due to inclement weather
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The University of Kentucky will close its campus on Monday, Jan. 26, due to inclement weather, according to an announcement from university officials.
UK President Eli Capilouto made the decision in the interest of the safety and well-being of the campus community.
While the campus will be closed, UK HealthCare facilities will remain open and continue operating on a regular schedule.
All in-person activities for students are canceled. University Plan B designated employees are required to report to work under the university’s weather policies. Employees designated to work remotely during Plan B operations should do so. University officials say employees with questions about work procedures should contact their supervisor.
Modified operating hours are also in place for Sunday, Jan. 25.
Student services operating Sunday include all campus dining locations, Gatton Student Center, The 90, and university libraries, which will be open from noon until 6 p.m. The UK Bookstore and Gatton Student Center Starbucks will be open from noon until 5 p.m. Alumni Gym will be open from noon until 6 p.m. The Johnson Center will remain closed.
UK St. Claire Urgent Treatment locations at 431 Hampton Way and 1028 E. Main St. will be closed Sunday.
In addition, all UK King’s Daughters Urgent Care Centers, excluding the Portsmouth location, will be closed. All UK King’s Daughters outpatient clinics and services will also be closed, along with the Wellness Center.
University officials say additional updates will be shared as conditions change.
