BCTC and ACE partner to improve accessibility to adult education in Lawrenceburg

LEXINGTON, KY (WTVQ) — Bluegrass Community & Technical College and the Anderson Community Education Center celebrated their partnership forged to improve accessibility for Lawrenceburg residents seeking a GED, at a ribbon cutting event at the ACE Center in Lawrenceburg.

Through this partnership, BCTC will provide transportation between ACE and BCTCs Lawrenceburg Campus once per week, as needed. Once on campus, prospective students will get a tour and onsite orientation to adult education through Skills U, take placement testing and register for the program. If transportation is a persistent issue, students may enroll Skills U online program, so they will only need to come to campus for their unit tests.

Even more exciting for GED seekers in Lawrenceburg, the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) and KY Skills U (formerly adult education) have partnered to offer an innovative GED program, GEDPLUS, where students can co-enroll in Skills U and short-term BCTC classes and earn a GED plus a college certificate tuition-free.
