Kentucky takes down Ole Miss; picks up fifth straight SEC win
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — The Kentucky Wildcats continued their winning ways Saturday afternoon with a 72-63 victory over Ole Miss inside Rupp Arena.
It was a low-scoring first half in Lexington, as Kentucky led the Rebels 29-23 at the break. The 23 points marked the fewest Ole Miss has scored in a half this season.
The offenses picked up in the second half, led by Otega Oweh for Kentucky. He finished with 23 points despite picking up two quick fouls and spending most of the first half on the bench. It was Oweh’s fifth 20-plus-point performance in seven conference games for the Wildcats.
Collin Chandler joined Oweh in double figures with 12 points, including a huge three-pointer late that proved to be the dagger. Jasper Johnson also scored in double figures off the bench with 11 points, marking the second time he has reached that total in two of the Wildcats’ last three games.
A.J. Storr led the Rebels in scoring with 20 points.
Kentucky will now hit the road for two ranked matchups, beginning Tuesday night in Nashville, where the Wildcats will take on the Vanderbilt Commodores at Memorial Gymnasium. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. on ESPN.
