Woman dies after house fire in Rockcastle County

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A woman has died following a house fire Thursday afternoon in Rockcastle County.

Fire crews were called just after 12:30 p.m. to a home in the Sunnydale Estates subdivision after reports that someone might still be inside the residence. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke coming from the house and immediately began searching the home.

Crews located a woman inside and were able to pull her from the house within minutes. She was treated at the scene before being rushed to Rockcastle Regional Hospital, where officials say she later died from her injuries.

Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire, and officials confirmed no one else was inside the home at the time.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
