One Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Mercer County
HARRODSBURG, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — One person was killed in a two-vehicle collision Friday afternoon in Mercer County, according to Kentucky State Police.
KSP Richmond Post says troopers were called just before 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, to a crash at the intersection of North College Street and Tapp Road.
The initial investigation indicates a 2016 Nissan Versa, driven by 71-year-old Sharon Britton of Cornishville, was traveling north on North College Street when it failed to yield to a traffic control device. Police say the vehicle entered the intersection and collided with a 2017 Lincoln Navigator traveling east on Tapp Road, driven by 79-year-old Jennings Marshall of Harrodsburg.
Britton was transported to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuriesand was pronounced dead by Boyle County Coroner Eric Guerrant.
Marshall was also taken to Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
The crash remains under investigation by Trooper Tyler Holt. Kentucky State Police were assisted at the scene by the Harrodsburg Police Department, AmeriPro EMS, Harrodsburg Fire Department, and the Boyle County Coroner’s Office.
