Lexington Police to introduce new aerial public safety support program
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Lexington Police Department is sharing more details about a new aerial public safety support program and is inviting the community to learn more.
In a post on social media, police say the program includes the use of drone technology to help support public safety efforts across the city.
To explain how the technology would work and answer questions from residents, police say they will hold a series of public meetings at libraries around Lexington. Officers and department representatives will be on hand to talk about how the program could be used and what safeguards would be in place.
The first meeting is scheduled for Monday night from 5:30 to 6:30 at the Tates Creek Public Library. Additional meetings are expected to be announced in the coming days.
Police say the goal is to give residents a chance to learn about the program, share feedback, and better understand how the technology could be used to help keep the community safe.
