Crews conduct search along Kentucky River on Old Richmond Road

UPDATE: 1:25 p.m. – According to Lexington Fire Department officials, their crews are helping in a missing persons case, which has been under investigation for a couple of weeks. Officials say they got a tip yesterday concerning the New Year’s Day location.

Right now, crews are running sonar and a drone, with safety divers in the water. The crew is made up of approximately 15 members of LFD, according to officials.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Emergency crews are conducting a search along the Kentucky River near Old Richmond Road in Lexington.

According to the Lexington Fire Department, crews are using sonar equipment in the water as part of the search. Fire officials have not confirmed what crews are searching for at this time.

Lexington police are also involved. ABC36 News Now has reached out to the Lexington Police Department to learn more about what prompted the search and what may be involved.

Officials have not released additional details.
