Northern Kentucky child dies from flu, first pediatric death of the season
KENTON COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — A child in Northern Kentucky has died from the flu, according to the Kentucky Department for Public Health.
Officials say the child was from Kenton County and had not received the recent influenza vaccine.
Health officials say this is the first pediatric flu-related death reported in Kentucky this flu season.
The Department for Public Health says the flu is a serious illness, particularly for young children, older adults and those with underlying health conditions.
Officials stress that getting a flu shot is the most effective way to protect against the virus and reduce the risk of severe illness.
