Ten Commandments monument returns to capitol grounds in Frankfort
FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A historic Ten Commandments monument has been returned to the Kentucky State Capitol grounds in Frankfort.
According to state officials, the monument was reinstalled earlier this week and is now permanently displayed in Monument Park.
The monument had been placed in storage during construction projects in the 1980s and was recently restored before being returned to public view.
The Fraternal Order of Eagles donated the Ten Commandments monument to the Commonwealth of Kentucky in 1971.
State officials say the restoration and return of the monument preserves an important piece of Kentucky history for future generations.
