UPDATE: TJ Maxx shoplifting suspect identified

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ)- Lexington Police have identified the man who they say stole clothes from TJ Maxx and pulled a knife on an employee.

They say he is 35-year-old James A. Oakley, Jr., of Nicholasville.

Police say he has an active warrant for robbery.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The Lexington Police Department is asking the public for help in identifying a man who was caught on camera pulling a knife after stealing clothes from a local store.

According to police, officers were called to the TJ Maxx store on W. Lowry Lane on September 17 for a robbery report.

The loss prevention employee reported a man was spotted leaving the store wearing pants, a belt, and a white t-shirt – all of which he had not paid for.

When he was approached by the loss prevention employee, police say the suspect pulled out a knife from his pocket and threatened the employee before running from the store.

On Monday, police released surveillance video of the incident in an effort to identify the suspect, as well as the woman who was with him.
