Lexington Fire Department announces its 2018 Junior Fire Chief

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The city of Lexington has a new Junior Fire Chief.

Brandon Anderson, a fifth-grade student at Northern Elementary School, was given the honorary title Monday by Fire Chief Kristin Chilton at a ceremony held at Northern Elementary.

Anderson was given an official badge that was pinned to his new Lexington Fire Department uniform.

The Junior Fire Chief program is part of a fire education and prevention program for kids in Fayette County.

The honorary Junior Fire Chief title is given annually to a Fayette County fifth grade student.

Anderson will serve as a fire department dignitary during the month of October, which is Fire Prevention month, and will make several public appearances, tour several businesses and Lexington landmarks, and attend meetings with the Fire Chief, City Council, and the Fallen Firefighters Service in Frankfort.
