Running out of time: USPS shares final shipping deadlines for Christmas delivery

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – If you still need to get holiday gifts in the mail, the clock is officially ticking. The U.S. Postal Service says you’ve got less than a week to send packages if you want them to arrive before Christmas.

USPS recommends getting gifts out the door by next Wednesday for standard delivery.

If you’re willing to pay a bit more, Priority Mail buys you an extra day — giving you until next Thursday.
And Priority Mail Express extends the deadline even further, allowing shipments to go out as late as next Saturday.

Postal officials emphasize these are estimates, not guarantees, and say it’s always best to ship early when possible. If your packages are headed beyond the continental U.S., be sure to build in an extra day or two for travel.
