Winter weather advisory in effect

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Central Kentucky as snow continues to fall and create potentially hazardous travel conditions.

According to our ABC36 NEWS NOW meteorologists, the advisory will remain in place until 1 p.m. Snowfall is ongoing and could lead to slick roads, reduced visibility and difficult driving conditions throughout the morning and early afternoon.

Officials are urging drivers to slow down, allow extra stopping distance and use caution, especially on bridges, overpasses and untreated roadways where conditions can change quickly.

Drivers are encouraged to monitor local weather updates and road conditions before heading out.
