Morehead State University mourns death of former president

MOREHEAD, Ky. (WTVQ) – Former Morehead State University President, Dr. C. Nelson Grote died at his home in Morehead Saturday morning.

He was the 11th president of MSU and retired from the University in 1992, after five years of service as chief executive officer.

Grote served the Commonwealth of Kentucky for 18 years and spent 16 of those years at MSU.

During his time at MSU, he served as Kentucky’s representative to AASCU, he was member of the Morehead-Rowman County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, and he served on the Kentucky Advisory Council of the U.S. Small Business Administrations Region IV.

He was also named the chamber’s 1991 “Man of the Year.”
