New UK Football Coach is in Lexington, will meet public at news conference

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The University of Kentucky’s new head football coach is officially in Lexington ahead of his first major public appearance with Big Blue Nation.

UK Police shared video on social media showing Coach Will Stein arriving at Blue Grass Airport on Tuesday. Officers then escorted him to campus as he prepares to be formally introduced as the Wildcats’ new head coach.

As previously reported, Stein replaces former head coach Mark Stoops, who was fired following a disappointing loss to Louisville.

According to the university, Stein will be formally introduced during a public press conference Wednesday afternoon at Nutter Field House. Doors open at 3 p.m., with the program scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. The event is open to the public.

University officials say the introduction marks the official start of a new chapter for Kentucky football as the program looks ahead to the future under new leadership.
