LPD: Blown semi tire crosses median on I-75, hitting van and killing one
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) — According to police, I-75 will be shut down in both directions for several hours due to a fatality caused by a semi tire crossing the median and hitting a van.
According to police, around 11:30 Thursday night, a semi driving northbound on I-75 near exit 113 blew a tire, which crossed the median and hit a van driving southbound.
They say the one person in the van was killed as a result.
They say the driver of the semi was not hurt.
Police say southbound I-75 is shut down at exit 113 (Paris Pike).
Just before midnight, police were working on shutting down northbound lanes at exit 110 (US-60).
They say the road will be closed for at least 2-3 more hours while they clear the scene.
Crash Reconstruction Units are on scene investigating the crash.
