No violence November: Elliott County students launch anti-violence campaign
SANDY HOOK, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Students at Elliott County High School are taking a stand against violence with a student-led initiative called “No Violence November.”
According to the school, the effort is organized by the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program and encourages students and community members to take a pledge promoting peace, kindness, and positive communication.
School officials say more than 220 people have signed the pledge so far. Each person receives a custom T-shirt printed with a word that represents their personal vision for ending violence.
To spread their message even further, students created a website, produced a radio PSA, and launched a podcast now available on Spotify. The podcast features interviews with counselors, mental health experts, and a trauma doctor from the University of Kentucky, aiming to give listeners tools and insight on preventing violence.
The group hopes the movement continues to grow beyond Elliott County, inspiring similar efforts across the state.
