Juvenile charged after bomb threat prompted evacuation at Lexington Universal Academy
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Lexington Police say a juvenile has been charged in connection with the bomb threat that led to the evacuation of the Lexington Universal Academy on Friday.
According to a media release from the Lexington Police Department, officers were called to the school on Nicholasville Road around 9:45 a.m. on November 14 for a reported bomb threat. As a precaution, the school was evacuated and searched. No hazardous devices were located, and Personal Crimes detectives continued investigating after the scene was cleared.
Police say detectives learned that a 15-year-old juvenile called in the threat. The juvenile has been charged with first-degree terroristic threatening.

Last Friday, Lexington Police issued multiple updates as the situation unfolded. Officers directed families to a reunification location, traffic was reduced to one inbound lane on Nicholasville Road and drivers were urged to avoid the area. The roadway later fully reopened once police completed their search of the school.
According to the school’s website, Lexington Universal Academy is the only full-time Islamic private school in Lexington serving students from Pre-K through 8th grade.
