Search for missing Rockcastle County teen continues with national-level support, sheriff says

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office says the search for missing teen Wynter Wagner is ongoing and now involves multiple state and federal agencies, according to a statement posted Friday on the department’s Facebook page.

In the post, Sheriff Shannon Franklin said his office continues to work closely with Kentucky State Police, the FBI’s London field office, the U.S. Marshals Service and several other state and local law enforcement agencies in efforts to locate Wynter.

The sheriff said investigators have conducted numerous interviews, reviewed surveillance camera recordings and are following up on all tips and information received. He said those efforts are now being carried out “on a national level.”

According to the sheriff’s post, multiple land and drone searches have taken place with the assistance of Rockcastle County Emergency Management, local volunteer fire departments, law enforcement officers and civilians. Those searches have focused both on the area where Wynter was first reported missing and other places where sightings have been reported.

Sheriff Franklin said he and investigators are communicating daily with federal and state partners to share information and coordinate search efforts. He emphasized that they cannot disclose specific locations, techniques or technology being used, saying they do not want to jeopardize the investigation or their goal of bringing Wynter home.

The sheriff also stated that due to safety concerns and laws protecting juveniles, his office cannot discuss the case by phone with anyone who is not confirmed as part of Wynter’s immediate family.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Rockcastle County Sheriff’s Office at 606-256-2121, Kentucky State Police or their local law enforcement agency.
