Governor Beshear says SNAP benefits now cleared for full funding in Kentucky

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – Governor Andy Beshear says Kentucky has received approval to fully fund SNAP benefits, clearing the way for families to see assistance restored as early as Saturday.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Beshear called the update “great news,” adding that his administration will work through the night to process the benefits.

According to the Governor, the delay stemmed from what he described as the Trump Administration’s refusal to release SNAP funds during the shutdown, which Trump blamed on Democrats. Beshear said Team Kentucky has been working to ensure families “don’t have to wait any longer.”

“Once again, our team will work through the night tonight, with the hope our families can see those benefits hit cards tomorrow,” Beshear said, emphasizing that the state remains committed to helping residents weather the disruption. “We’re in this together.”

State officials have not yet provided an exact time when benefits will be posted, but the Governor says updates will continue as work progresses.
