CASA Joy Tree program brings holiday hope to children in Fayette County
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The annual CASA Joy Tree program is spreading holiday cheer for children in need across Fayette County.
The program, which provides Christmas gifts for abused and neglected children in the family court system, will hold its tree lighting ceremony Wednesday morning at the McBrayer Law Firm on East Main Street. The event begins at 9:30 a.m.
Since 2004, the CASA Joy Tree program has helped nearly 3,000 children by connecting donors with specific gift requests pulled from the tree. Each name represents a child in the family court system who might otherwise go without a holiday present.
Organizers say it’s an opportunity for the community to give back and brighten the season for some of the county’s most vulnerable children.
