Officers go above and beyond to help homeless Vietnam Veteran

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – As the nation prepares to honor those who served on Veterans Day, Lexington Police are sharing a story of compassion and community support.

Officers say they recently helped a homeless Vietnam veteran who earned two Purple Hearts and two Silver Stars for his service. Police say a concerned citizen reached out last month after spotting the veteran riding his bike in Lexington.

Officers provided him with warm clothing and supplies and say he is now in the process of being placed into housing.

Police shared the update to highlight the community’s ongoing efforts to assist local veterans who have fallen on hard times.
