Public health volunteers deploy to North Carolina

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WTVQ) – The state’s department for public health will be sending nurses to North Carolina.

The team is made up of nine registered nurses and two administrative staff members from several counties’ health departments, including Lexington-Fayette County’s Department.

They’ll be working in local shelters, including medical support shelters where displaced people are in stable condition, but have a chronic condition that needs special attention.

The department says other public health volunteers are ready to go if the Carolinas requests help with issues such as food safety, water sampling, and mosquito control.
