Man arrested for allegedly impersonating an officer
WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Whitley County man is facing charges after allegedly impersonating a law enforcement officer in Corbin.
According to the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, 53-year-old Stephen Smith was arrested Wednesday after pretending to be an assistant constable. Deputies say Smith stopped two girls who were riding a golf cart on Forego Trail in the Tattersall community.
Investigators say Smith showed a badge and threatened to issue the girls a ticket before deputies arrived and arrested him a short time later.
The case remains under investigation.
