Kentucky T-shirt campaign raises more than 58,000 meals as SNAP pause takes effect

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – As SNAP benefits are set to pause at midnight, leaving an estimated 600,000 Kentuckians impacted, people across the state are stepping up to help their neighbors.

The Kentucky Shop has launched a “Kentucky Strong” T-shirt campaign that has already raised the equivalent of more than 58,000 meals in less than 24 hours. The effort will continue through November and December.

According to organizers, 100% of the net proceeds go directly to food banks serving all 120 counties in Kentucky. The shirts are Comfort Colors, unisex, and made of 100% preshrunk cotton — each individually dyed for a unique look.

The small team behind the campaign is asking buyers to allow extra time for printing and shipping due to high demand.
