Lexington man pleads guilty to amended charges in 2022 Cantrill Drive shooting
LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Lexington man pleaded guilty Thursday, to amended charges in connection with a 2022 deadly shooting on Cantrill Drive.
According to court officials, 24-year-old Deonte Carter entered into a plea agreement to amended charges of criminal facilitation and manslaughter. He was originally charged with robbery and murder.
Officials say Carter also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. The recommended sentence for the manslaughter charge is 10 years, while the facilitation and handgun possession charges each carry a recommended five-year sentence.
Court records show Carter’s final sentencing is scheduled for December 4.
Police say Carter’s charges stem from the shooting death of 26-year-old Kobby Lee Martin, who was found dead from gunshot wounds on Cantrill Drive on the night of January 7, 2022.
