Kentucky GOP investigates Hardin County Republican Party over racist Facebook post
HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – The Republican Party of Kentucky says it is investigating a social media post shared by the Hardin County Republican Party that depicted former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama as apes.
The video, shared by Hardin County GOP Chair Bobbie Coleman, has since been deleted following widespread backlash. Coleman apologized for the post, saying she intended to highlight President Trump’s policies and did not mean to promote racist imagery.
In a statement, the Republican Party of Kentucky called the post “vile and reprehensible,” adding that it would take the harshest action possible as the investigation continues.
Party officials say they are reviewing the situation internally as they work to distance the organization from the post.
