Churchill Downs announces $300 million “Victory Run” project to transform Kentucky Derby experience

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) – Churchill Downs is unveiling plans for a massive new project aimed at redefining how fans experience the Kentucky Derby.

The racetrack announced a new four-story facility called “Victory Run,” which will replace older seating and dining areas on the first turn. The upgrade will feature private suites, indoor and outdoor dining spaces, and covered box seats — expanding capacity from roughly 6,400 to about 7,800 guests.

The estimated cost of the project is between $280 million and $300 million.

Construction is expected to begin after the 2026 Kentucky Derby and wrap up in time for the 2028 event. Temporary seating and amenities will be available for fans during the 2027 Derby.
