State Representative speaks on Ronald Exantus’ release

FRANKFORT, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – A Kentucky lawmaker is speaking out following the release of a man convicted in a deadly 2015 stabbing case.

State Representative T.J. Roberts released a statement after Ronald Exantus, who broke into a home and killed six-year-old Logan Tipton, was recently released under Kentucky’s Mandatory Reentry Supervision program.

Roberts said, “Ronald Exantus should spend the rest of his life in prison for the murder of 6-year-old Logan Tipton, and his release is a gross miscarriage of justice.” He called the program “soft on crime” and said he plans to file legislation next session to abolish it and to end split verdicts involving insanity defenses. He added, “Mercy to criminals is cruelty to victims.”
