Woman in child abuse case in court

RICHMOND, KY. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – One of nine people arrested in connection with a child abuse investigation at two Richmond daycares is scheduled for court this morning.

Brooklyn Houk is set for an arraignment at 11 a.m. She is among several individuals charged in the ongoing investigation at Step Ahead Daycare and The Kids Club.

Police say Houk, along with daycare owners Jessica Houk and Theodrick Hersey, face charges including child abuse, failure to report abuse, and obstructing an investigation. The case involves multiple children, with allegations of strangling, hitting, and depriving kids of food.
