Kentucky State Police joining national safe driving initiative

FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division is participating in Operation SafeDRIVE, a nationwide safety effort running now through October 9.

The campaign focuses on preventing crashes involving large commercial trucks by targeting distracted, reckless, and impaired driving. According to KSP, officers will increase highway patrols and conduct vehicle inspections throughout the week to ensure safer travel for both truck drivers and passenger vehicles.

Troopers are reminding motorists to stay visible around trucks, signal early, and give commercial vehicles extra space when changing lanes or merging.

KSP says these small actions can make a big difference in preventing collisions and keeping everyone safe on Kentucky’s highways.
