Winchester police surpass food drive goal, collect more than 10,000 items for students

WINCHESTER, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) — Winchester Police are celebrating a major milestone in their efforts to support local families.

According to the department, thanks to generous donations from the community, officers collected more than 10,000 food items — far exceeding their original goal of packing 500 food bags for Clark County students during Fall Break.

Police say the initiative will help ensure no student in the district goes hungry while school is out.

In a statement, officials thanked the community for its generosity, kindness, and commitment to helping close the hunger gap. They added that the outpouring of support has been “truly heartwarming” and will make a big difference for families in need.
