University of Kentucky unveils new Security Operations Center

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – The University of Kentucky is highlighting its new Security Operations Center, designed to serve as the central hub for campus safety.

UK Police Chief Joe Monroe is giving a tour of the facility, located inside the new police headquarters on Transcript Avenue. The Security Operations Center will be staffed around the clock by UKPD communications officers, who will monitor and manage safety across campus 24/7.

Chief Monroe is also expected to discuss the recently released 2025 Annual Campus Safety and Security Report, which details the university’s safety efforts and crime statistics.
