Deadly crash shuts down roadway for hours

LEXINGTON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – One person is dead and another is in the hospital after a crash involving a semi-truck and a car Wednesday night in Lexington, according to police.

The collision happened around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Newtown Pike and I-75 northbound. Police say one person inside the car died at the scene, while a second passenger was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.

Investigators say the crash forced police to shut down the roadway for several hours overnight.

The name of the victim has not been released.
