Wheelchair-bound man rescued from burning home in London

LONDON, Ky. (ABC36 NEWS NOW) – First responders in London pulled a wheelchair-bound man from a burning home Wednesday morning, saving his life.

According to a release from the City of London, the fire broke out around 8:48 a.m. on East 5th Street. Crews arrived to find the home filled with smoke and flames, with a resident trapped inside.

Firefighters and police officers pushed through the smoke-filled rooms and found the man in a bedroom already on fire, including the bed he was lying in. They carried him outside, where EMS crews began treatment.

The release says the resident suffered burns and smoke inhalation before being taken to St. Joseph of London for further care.
